Mr. John Nderitu is the Secretary to the Competition Tribunal & an Economist/Economic Policy Analyst in the National Treasury.
He has vast experience in Competition Policy& Law and Competition case investigations and enforcement having worked at the Competition Authority of Kenya in various capacities including the African Consumer Protection Dialogue under the auspices of the Federal Trade Commission-U.S.A. He has guided the Tribunal to its full operationalization and the consequent development & gazettement of the Tribunal’s rules of procedure. He is an Alternate Director -National Museums of Kenya.
He has represented Government in various forums including the African Continental Free Trade Area Negotiations under the African Union and was the Rapporteur of the Trade Remedies Technical Working Group in 2017/18, Tripartite Trade Negotiations under COMESA, EAC-SADCC Tripartite Negotiations including Rules of Origin, Trade Remedies and Custom Procedures. He represented the National Treasury in the 18th Summit of the COMESA Council of Ministers and the 32nd EAC Council of Ministers.
Mr. Nderitu has expertise and experience in donor funded projects where he has been involved in the Regional Integration Implementation program under the E.U,EAC Regional Technical Committee that developed the EAC Regional-One Stop Border Post Operational Manual under JICA and the implementation of the One Stop Border Post.
He has Solid understanding and experience in private sector development, business environment, credit guarantee schemes and improving SME’S competitiveness. He has served as a manager in Windsor Trading Company.
He holds an MSC in Entrepreneurship from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture Science & Technology, Post Graduate Diploma in E.C. Competition Policy & Law- Kings College-University of London and BA (Economics and Business Studies) Kenyatta University.
